I wrote this article back in the 1990's. I probably write a little better nowadays, but I find that it gets as many hits as any other article.  I hope it points the lost to Christ.

 

 

In order to understand why Jesus is so very important, we must look at the condition of mankind. Mankind is sinful and evil. Ever since Adam transgressed God's law and ate of the Tree of the Fruit of Knowledge of Good and Evil, mankind has been inheirantly sinful and evil. Every human being is conceived and born in SIN. Sin is evil, horrible, disgusting and putrid. Sin is wrong-doing, wrong-thinking, and the omission of doing that which is good. Every man, woman, and child is sin-stained from the womb. All of mankind is sinful.

God, on the other hand, is pure, good, loving, and without sin. God never lies, cheats, steals, murders, or even thinks impure thoughts. God is perfect, great, and without blemish.

We can see a contrast. God is pure and without sin, and mankind is putrid and full of sin. Ask yourself, "Am I a sinner?" Do you ever covet someone else's things? Do you wickedly lust after people's bodies? Do you lie? Steal? Have sex outside of marriage? Are you homosexual? Say the Lord's name in vain? Do you think evil thoughts from time to time? If you are HONEST with yourself, you know that you are a sinner, no matter who you are.

This sin seperates us from God. God hates sin, and cannot stand it; it is so horrible. It is so horrible that when we die, we should be cast into Hell.

As you know, EVERYONE must die. Any sane person knows that death is coming. It is unavoidable. What happens when someone dies? His soul goes to Heaven or Hell. God is in Heaven and cannot even look upon sin, so if you die in your sins, you will burn in Hell, which is the lake of fire and brimstone. Heaven is peace and happiness. On his own, man cannot do anything to avoid Hell. A sinful creature such as man cannot find enough purity and salvation in and of himself to go to Heaven.

Is there no hope? Are all people everywhere destined to burn in agony forever in Hell? No. There is ONE who can cleanse your sins and let you go to Heaven. He is Jesus Christ, the divine Son of God. He is God and also man. Jesus was born of a virgin (Mary), and conceived by the Holy Ghost. Jesus lived a perfect life without sin. He did nothing but good. He healed the sick, the deaf, the mute, and the blind. He casted out devils. He preached the gospel, and forgave sins. Nevertheless, people hated him because he preached and practiced the truth. They mocked him and hated him. They even accused him of being of Beezelbub, aka Satan. They crucified him on the cross at calvary, and he suffered and died there. He died on the cross so that we could be saved. Jesus was perfect; he did not deserve to be executed. He was like an innocent lamb. He was perfect and sinless. Because of this, he was a sacrifice for us. We could not save ourselves, but Jesus came and died on the cross so that we could have our sins cleansed and go to Heaven.

This is not the whole story. After 3 days and 3 nights, Jesus rose from the grave!! Death could not contain him!! If he had simply died, it would have meant little or nothing, but he arose, and he is the Savior!!!

If you are lost and without God, you need Jesus to clean your sins, that you can go to Heaven. The Bible teaches that you must believe in Jesus to be saved, and you must also repent of your sins!! You cannot earn salvation, but it is a gift from God!!

Lost friend, when someone is saved by the grace of God, they know about it!! Do not be fooled by false teachers. Many web pages say, "Repeat this prayer to be saved." NO!! This is foolishness! You must feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit! It is also called being "pricked in the heart!" It is a deep godly sorrow that penetrates the heart. It convicts you of your sins. Once you have been convicted, you must believe in Jesus and TRULY repent of your sins. This is something you can feel and that is real. To know you are a sinner is a BAD FEELING! Once you are convicted and you beg God for mercy, God can save your soul. No one on this earth can tell you if you have been saved, only you and God can know. When you are saved, God will put a sweet peace in your heart, and you WILL KNOW it is God's salvation!!

God's salvation is such a sweet peace and joy! I hope that you find it before you die.

Please, do not be fooled by the false teachers of the web who say, "Repeat this prayer." Your prayer must come from your own heart! Saying a vain repetition will not save you; you must beg God from your OWN HEART. Please don't feel or think that just because you have read this page that you are automatically going to Heaven. You must be convicted of your sins, repent and have faith, and be saved by God.

I hope and pray that you will be saved before it is everlasting too late.
